Italian producers with cybernetic takes on hip-hop and Roman deep house come together on the Alumni Mix.

AD Bourke is an Italian singer, producer and RBMA 2010 alum, who is based in Rome and produces experimental hip-hop beats infected with techno, dub and kinetic synthesis. He’s released several EPs of MPC-led drum beats and sequencer jams since the mid-‘00s, on labels like Citnite and Five Fold, his most recent being RAW, a collaboration with fellow Italian producer ROTLA recorded ahead of their joint forthcoming album on Far Out Recordings. ROTLA, which stands for the playful name of Raiders Of The Lost ARP, is the solo project of fellow Italian producer Mario Pierro, also known as one half of Mat101 and Jollymusic. He’s released two solo albums as ROTLA on Rome’s Nature Records, drawing on the cybernetic riffs of Detroit techno into classic ’90s Roman deep house.
