Philly DJ Precolumbian visits the studio for an in-depth discussion of the intersection between music and activism.
Born in Lima, Peru, Chaska Sofia has spent years helping cultivate Philadelphia’s queer club scene. In building a community for the city’s QTPOC, her work as DJ and promoter Precolumbian has become a self-described medium for empowerment and decolonization. To Sofia, it’s more than just playing records at a party – it’s a method of transcending social and physical borders. She joins Riobamba and Uproot Andy on this month’s broadcast to discuss her activist work and play a DJ set.
