The New York-based goth scholar and DJ invites you into her world of sinister synth mania.
With Red Bull Music Festival happening this week, we wanted to shine a light on the artists who are shaping city’s underground music scene. Andi Harriman is a writer and goth scholar by day and a DJ and promoter by night. She is the author of the book Some Wear Leather, Some Wear Lace: The Worldwide Compendium of Postpunk and Goth in the 1980s. Her monthly SYNTHICIDE night at Brooklyn’s Bossa Nova Civic Club is a celebration of dark dance music — combining industrial, new wave and anything else dark and synthetic, with an emphasis on the ’80s.
