The Detroit-raised DJ pays homage to the music legacy of her hometown, spinning house grooves from the Motor City and beyond.
Rising DJ Ash Lauryn is perhaps the best-placed person to wax lyrical about the legacy of Detroit electronic music, even though she has been based out of Atlanta for more than a decade. Together with Stefan Ringer she runs a club night called Expressions, and is currently a resident DJ with Atlanta’s Deep South collective. Through her blog, Underground and Black, as well as her NTS show of the same name, she has advocated for inclusivity in dance music and continued upholding the legacy of the city that informed her musical style. Her Choice Mix strikes a similar tone, blending cuts that originate or were inspired by the sound of the Motor City.
