Tullio de Piscopo Special
David Nerattini explores the back catalog of legendary drummer Tullio de Piscopo: two hours of big band celebrations and heavy jazz breaks.
Neapolitan drumming legend Tullio De Piscopo started his career as the drummer for several jazz icons, from Chet Baker and Gil Evans, to Eumir Deodato, Ástor Piazzolla and Manu Chao. Together with bassist Pino Presti, he established one of Italy’s finest rhythm sections, and dominated the Italian music scene throughout the 70s and 80s. As a composer, he is known for scoring several classics of Italian cinema, and was notably sampled by DJ Shadow for Mo’Wax’s trailblazing UNKLE project.
