The Brooklyn-born producer for the likes of Sean Paul, Vybz Kartel and Nicki Minaj drops some dancehall knowledge and studio tips.

Ricky Blaze’s production work has easily traversed R&B, dancehall and pop, often within the confines of the same song. Since he produced Ding Dong’s party-starting “Bad Man Forward, Bad Man Pull Up” at age 17 in 2006, his credits have grown to include Santigold’s breakthrough “Disparate Youth” and contributions to albums by Sean Paul, Major Lazer, Kranium and more. An old friend of Max Glazer’s, he comes through the studio to talk about growing up in Brooklyn’s Little Caribbean, being a teenage party promoter and what he’s working on now.

Produced by Harley Brown
Engineered by Ryan Woodhall & Joe Hazan
