Miami’s Popeye Caution drops by to school us on how he wields dancehall, reggae, pop and trap to make music for “everybody.”

As a member of underground South Florida dancehall crew Caution, Marlon Reid showcased his dancing skills in music videos and on tour with the likes of Trina, Bogie, Mavado, and Beenie Man. But ever since the release of his single “Shoes Off,” the artist known as Popeye Caution has proven to possess a knack for moving his mouth as well as his feet, and has taken his moves, his rhymes, and his riddims around the world and back. On this week’s episode of The Federation Sound, Popeye drops by the New York studio to chop it up with host Max Glazer and talk about his transition from dancer to singer, his new single with Electric Punanny, and how he makes his brand of high-energy feel-good music.
