Max Glazer invites the dancehall hero in for an extended conversation on his decade-spanning career and current projects.

Born and raised in Kingston, Jamaica, Spragga Benz’s career started in the early ’90s as an assistant DJ for Ricky Villa and LA Benz Sound System. He soon tried his hand at getting on the mic and quickly churned out tunes that would become his breakout hits “Love Mi Gun” and “Jack It Up.” These tracks attracted a lot of ears in Jamaica, and Spragga Benz became one of the hottest names in the underground dancehall scene. Signing a major deal with Capitol Records helped his sound travel internationally, and over the years he’s collaborated with the likes of Wyclef Jean, KRS-One, Foxy Brown, Elephant Man and Damian Marley. Spragga has also expanded his artistry to film, acting in both Brooklyn Babylon, and Shottas. In 2018 he gave us the track “Differ,” a Federation Sound favorite. This week we’ll hear about his journey as he chats with host Max Glazer, live in our New York studio.
