Suicideyear and Lori Scacco
The week’s best new electronic music releases, plus interviews with Louisiana beatmaker Suicideyear and NYC sound sculptor Lori Scacco.
It’s officially summer (at least in the Northern hemisphere), which means that the usual onslaught of new records has (slightly) slowed down, but there’s certainly no shortage of incredible new sounds to check out here on First Floor. As always, host Shawn Reynaldo shares all of the best new releases, and he’s also got a premiere of new track from prolific techno artist Matrixxman – it’s something off the forthcoming first release from his freshly minted label, the Grid. Elsewhere, Louisiana producer Suicideyear phones in to discuss his new album on LuckyMe, Color the Weather, and also breaks down his unique combination of Southern rap beats with melancholy synths. Also joining the program is Lori Scacco, a NYC musician, composer and sound artist who tells us about her long and varied musical journey, which includes her latest album, Desire Loop. Out this week on Mysteries of the Deep, it’s her first solo full-length in nearly 15 years.
