Martyn and Project Pablo
The week’s best new electronic music releases, plus conversations with bass explorer Martyn and chill groover Project Pablo.
In the wake of last week’s wild live broadcast direct from Sónar, this episode finds First Floor getting back to normal. Of course, “normal” still means that host Shawn Reynaldo will highlight all of the best new electronic music offerings making their way into the world this week. With an absolute torrent of new records, the program will be stuffed to the gills with high-quality tunes, along with an exclusive premiere of a Fort Romeau rework of Heathered Pearls, taken from the latter’s forthcoming remix EP on Ghostly International. We’ve also lined up interviews with a couple of standout producers, both of whom are returning to First Floor to discuss new albums. First up is Martyn, a Dutch-born artist and expert low-end manipulator whose new Voids LP on Ostgut Ton was created in the aftermath of a sudden heart attack that fundamentally altered his creative vision. Later on, we’re joined by prolific Montréal producer Project Pablo, whose laid-back sound has gone in an even mellower direction on his latest full-length, Come to Canada You Will Like It.
