Live from RBMA Berlin, we speak with Rekids boss Radio Slave, his occasional collaborator Patrick Mason and prolific local duo Cassegrain.
With the Red Bull Music Academy currently underway in the German capital, First Floor has set up shop in Berlin and is deviating from its usual formula to shine a light on the city’s rich electronic music history and deep pool of talented artists. Of course, host Shawn Reynaldo is still devoting most of the program to the week’s best new electronic releases – this episode includes an exclusive premiere from the upcoming Ancient Methods album – but today he’s joined in the studio by veteran DJ and producer Radio Slave, a Berlin-based Brit who will be discussing his long-running Rekids label. He’s joined by fellow Berlin resident Patrick Mason, his partner in the SRVD project, and together they discuss their music and their relationship with their adopted hometown. Also stopping in for an interview is Cassegrain, a pair of RBMA alums who first met at the Academy a decade ago in Barcelona. Since then, they’ve dropped more than a dozen records, collaborated with Tin Man and launched their own Arcing Seas label. Here they discuss the unique genesis of their project and how they ultimately landed in Berlin.
