The week’s best new electronic music releases, plus conversations with trance-techno alchemist Voiski and raucous experimenter Container.
A lot of electronic music makes its way into the world each week. Between albums, EPs, cassettes, singles and digital releases, the number of new offerings often reaches triple digits, which is far more music than any one person can reasonably process. Unless that person is First Floor host Shawn Reynaldo, who shows up here every Thursday having plucked only the finest new gems to share with his audience. This time round, he’s also brought along an exclusive premiere from Italian techno maestro Donato Dozzy and his upcoming acid full-length on Tresor. He’ll be interviewing French producer Voiski about the motivations behind his trance-techno hybrids and his new odds-and-ends collection Sick Parrots. Also joining the program is American noisenik Container, who breaks down his raw new album for Spectrum Spools and talks about the experience of being unwittingly pulled into the techno scene.
