The multifaceted British artist revisits some of the formative influences that helped shape her eclecticism.

Ebony Bones is a resolutely uncategorizable singer, producer and musician who continues to draw from the punk spirit of pioneers like Siouxsie Sioux, Betty Davis, Grace Jones, Patti Smith and her recent collaborator Yoko Ono. Her latest album Nephilim reaffirms her commitment to unexpected forms, norms and retellings, and features the voices of the Bones Youth Choir, symphonic orchestration from Mumbai and Beijing and cover versions of known hits, all wrapped in a narrative of sharp social commentary. Her Headphone Highlights selections help to bring her broad point of view into slightly sharper focus: These are the disco, afrobeat, punk, post-punk and roots reggae songs that informed her development, and continue to play a role in her colorful output.
