Kid Koala: Music for Teary-Eyed Commuters
The Canadian producer and turntable wiz selects soulful harmonies and melodies for those commuter hours spent between the familiar and new.
When Montreal-born Kid Koala first got behind the decks, he started handing out demos to his fellow university students. His debut album, Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, was released on Ninja Tune, and soon his unorthodox approach to samples set him down a path of collaborating and touring with artists like Radiohead, the Beastie Boys, Arcade Fire, Money Mark and Björk. Alongside his own albums and ongoing group project Deltron 3030, with Dan the Automator and Del the Funky Homosapien, Kid Koala has scored several films and written and drawn two multimedia graphic novels, including the acclaimed Nufonia Must Fall. He teamed up with fellow Canadians Arts & Crafts to release his 2017 album Music To Draw To: Satellite, which was created in collaboration with Icelandic singer and songwriter Emilíana Torrini. He’s also been working on the original Floor Kids video game soundtrack, to be released in spring 2018.
