From jazz fusion to krautrock and R&B to pristine pop: LA’s Nite Jewel drops a broad selection of faves dear to her heart.

Filled with touchstones of yacht rock, Latin freestyle, West Coast funk, and pristine pop, the breezy tunes of LA-based musician Nite Jewel offer a rich amalgam of sounds unique to the California climes. Decorated members of her fan club include collaborators Dâm-Funk, Julia Holter and indie flick pinnacle Noah Baumbach, who conveniently sneaked Nite Jewel’s signature tune “Suburbia” into his Ben Stiller-starring movie Greenberg. After releasing her debut album Good Evening on San Francisco’s tiny Gloriette label, and dropping a string of singles and EPs on labels as diverse as Stones Throw, Italians Do It Better, Mexican Summer, and BIG LOVE, her latest full-length One Second Of Love touched down on the revered Indiana-based Secretly Canadian label she now calls home.
