Jackie House provides a scene report from Honey Soundsystem’s ten-year birthday party and shares DJ sets from the whole crew.
Honey Soundsystem came from a need for queer nightlife options in San Francisco beyond the monotonous mainstream. Consisting of Jason Kendig, Robert Yang, Josh Cheon and Jacob Sperber — that’s Jackie House to you — the collective offered weekly parties whose dedication to deep musical selections and impressive atmospheres struck a chord in the SF scene. But the Honey boys’ vision for underground queer dance music couldn’t be contained in the Bay — they’ve brought their unique brand of parties to cities around the world, started record labels that have unearthed crucial moments in queer dance music history, and performed together and separately at the world’s most respected nightlife spaces. Fresh from their tenth anniversary blowout, Jackie House shares stories from the rave and DJ sets from each crew member.
