The proprietor of Detroit’s beloved Hello Records offers his deepest musical perspective and selections, live from the Motor City.

“He’s deep,” BMG says of Wade Kergan. “A serious student of music. His media collection rivals his insane record store.” The shop in question is Hello Records, a Corktown storefront whose bins betray Kergan’s eclectic yet discerning tastes, which range from obscure indie rock, disco and jazz to of-the-minute Detroit techno. BMG met Kergan when they worked together at Record Time, the legendary Detroit record shop from another era, and BMG hired him on at Star 67, the distribution company he ran in the late ‘90s. These days, in addition to holding it down at Hello, Kergan plays saxophone in the band Mondo Sensorium and maintains an enviable record collection. When he joins BMG and Erika for a broadcast from our Detroit studio, he’ll be bringing a lot of shared history and musical expertise – and, we imagine, some excellent records you’re not likely to hear anywhere else.
