A Closer Look
The techno queen delivers a mix of trance-inducing techno and drum & bass pleasers, along with some unlikely throwbacks.
Expertly versed in both the relentless throb of Detroit techno and the emotional overtones of New York and Chicago house music, K-HAND has been unleashing dancefloor weapons for nearly three decades. After formative pilgrimages to Larry Levan’s Paradise Garage, K-HAND’s earliest productions were tested at Ken Collier’s Club Heaven; the burgeoning producer made her first 12” (1990’s “Think About It,” under her alias Etat Solide) with the help of Jeff Mills, Mike Banks and Mike Clarke. Since then, K-HAND’s prolific output has included EPs for her own label, Acacia Records, as well as releases on Warp and Russian techno maven Nina Kraviz’s influential трип imprint, to name just a few.
