It’s the party of the year! Listen back and flex to London’s dancehall soundsystem.
The Heatwave began as a club night that closely resembled a bashment workout, and has since grown into a multi-armed musical machine of production, remixing and a weekly radio show on Rinse FM. Founded by Gabriel Myddelton in 2003, the Heatwave has become a key destination for jubilant homegrown dancehall. They’ve produced riddims featuring the likes of YT, Natalie Storm and Serocee; curated the acclaimed Soul Jazz compilation An England Story; and put a dancehall remix spin on tracks like “Trick Me” by Kelis and Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy.” They’ve also branched out into original material to much success, keeping the dancehall busy all the while. In this session, the Heatwave bring it to Notting Hill Carnival.
