Photay at Lapsus Festival
Brooklyn’s electronic music fusionist lights up the stage with warm analog sounds and rhythmic experimentations.
Using a variety of audio sources and techniques, Photay’s music is a balancing act of analog and digital, natural and synthetic sounds. While studying abroad in Guinea, West Africa, he began learning about polyrhythmic percussion and started experimenting with sampling methods and field recordings. On his most recent full-length, Onism, he continues to experiment with tactile percussive sounds. In this session, Photay brings his upbeat rhythms and deep melodies to the stage.
