The Montreal-based electronic-pop artist and Italians Do It Better affiliate makes her US debut with an ethereal set.
Tess Roby is a Toronto-raised, Montreal-based vocalist, electronic composer and photographer. Accompanied by her brother Eliot on guitar, her music rides the melancholic line between classic ‘80s new wave and lyric-driven pop; a listener feels the intimacy of Roby’s bedroom, cut with a kind of romantic urgency from Hounds of Love-era Kate Bush. The arrangements are hauntingly sparse, giving way to the richness of Roby’s voice and the hypnotic pulses of her analog synthesizer. In this session, she performs tracks from her debut LP Beacon, recently released on Italians Do It Better.
