Kutmah at Goodgod
The worldwide beat ambassador plays out a fine blend of boogie down hip-hop, dubbed-out disco and low-slung jams. Recorded live at Goodgod in Sydney.
Beat ambassador Kutmah keeps connecting the dots of the instrumental hip-hop world on both sides of the Atlantic. Born and raised by Egyptian/Scottish parents in Brighton, UK, Justin ’Kutmah’ McNulty moved to Hollywood at the age of 12. Already an aspiring graphic artist and DJ in his late teens, Kutmah became part of the LA based web radio collective dublab and endorsed the protagonists of the LA beat scene by founding the seminal club Sketchbook. In 2010, Kutmah was facing severe complications with overly temperamental US federal agents, which had him serving two months in a detention center before eventually going back to the UK. Whilst being locked up and interrogated, Kutmah crafted a much exhibited series of drawings named Two Soups And A Honeybun. Nowadays living in Brixton, Kutmah is present more than ever, and keeps himself busy curating compilations for Brownswood and churning out original productions and new editions of his New Error mixtape series on Hit + Run records.
