The Motor City’s underground stalwart journeys through funk, uplifting soul, boogie and deep house at Bristol’s intimate venue The Love Inn.

Marcellus Pittman’s name appeared to a wider audience for the first time in 1999. Essential Selections Vol. 1 namechecked him as co-producer on Theo Parrish’s decisive Sound Signature imprint, and he was designated as one to watch. Pittman has showed his talent as the paradoxical fourth member of the Three Chairs (Rick Wilhite, Kenny Dixon Jr. and Theo Parrish), and in his releases for Omar-S’ FXHE Records and his own Unirhythm imprint. Rooted in the Motor City’s tradition of downbeat house and uptempo soul music, the man plays all across the board, sounding like a meetup between Ken Collier and the Electrifying Mojo. In this session you’ll hear Pittman once again in top form, this time supporting rising UK selector Sam Hall as part of Red Bull Music’s Get Down Early club night.
