Red Axes at Nikotin
The Tel Aviv production duo bring their post-punk schooled house and techno template to Cologne’s Nikotin club night.
Red Axes is the Tel Aviv based production/DJ team comprised of childhood ping pong adversaries Niv Arzi and Dori Sadovnik. Originally starting out in the Israeli post-punk circles, Niv and Dori first collaborated as members of a band named Red Cotton, before developing a common interest in robotic funk and kraut-laden house and techno. Following a brief stint living in Amsterdam and travelling Europe, Niv and Dori started their own Tel Aviv club night devoted to psychedelic electronics. Since 2009, Red Axes have released prolifically on labels such as Cosmo Vitelli’s I’m a Cliche and John Talabot’s Hivern Discs, still carrying their early fascination with live instruments and stoic rhythms into their reliably floor-filling productions.
