Todd Edwards at The Jazz Café

83 minsRecorded 9 Nov 2018 at The Jazz Cafe in London

Swirling cut-ups and pure garage energy: Garage master and Daft Punk collaborator Todd Edwards brings his A-game in London.

Widely regarded as one of the godfathers of UK garage music, Todd Edwards is an American DJ and producer whose sound is characterized by a hypnotic collage of cut samples over swing house beats and juicy, disco-flavored basslines. His early releases on NYC house labels such as i! Records and Nervous cemented his status in underground house music circles in the UK and US, around the time that London’s two-step sound morphed into grime. Still, his big break was his collaboration with Daft Punk on their milestone 2001 album, Discovery. Over the years, Edwards has become an in-demand remixer, working with Moloko, Justice, Phoenix and St. Germain, and is credited as a remixer, producer, arranger and vocalist on hundreds of releases. His work with Daft Punk came full circle in 2013, when he won a Grammy for his writing and production work on the mega-hit album Random Access Memories. In this recording, the undoubted swing king selects the classic tunes that get the dancefloor busy at London’s buzzy Jazz Cafe.
