Shigeto, Kllo and Ghostly International
Ghostly’s Sam Valenti curates 18 years of experimental techno-pop, plus Detroit adventurer Shigeto and Melbourne electro-pop outfit Kllo.
Born in 1999, Ghostly has grown from a boutique Ann Arbor, Michigan label releasing underground techno and electro-pop from friends like Matthew Dear and Dabrye to one of the most recognizable imprints in the electronic music landscape – pushing new directions in electronic pop, ambient, techno and beyond paired with fine design work. Always evolving and incorporating new sounds, label founder Sam Valenti talks to us about the history of the imprint, its 2017 releases and what to expect in the new year. Plus, Ghostly’s Melbourne duo Kllo (Chloe Kaul and Simon Lam) discuss the smoky, electronic pop of their debut LP Backwater, and Detroit DJ/producer Shigeto delves into his latest full-length, The New Monday, plus his Portage Garage label and radio show (third Sundays on Red Bull Radio from 12P-2P Eastern), his ZGETO project and pickles and pastrami sandwiches.
