Love Injection: Paul Raffaele and Barbie Bertisch
Love Injection‘s founders share love stories and heart-swelling house and disco.
Peak Time celebrates Valentine’s Day with a lovely Brooklyn DJ couple who, with their Love Injection fanzine and radio show, are reverently keeping alive the generous spirit and legacy of NYC dance nights like the Loft, Joy and 718 Sessions (they also run the NYC version of DJ Cosmo’s deep-listening session Classic Album Sundays). Vivian sat down at the Greenpoint home of Paul Raffaele and Barbie Bertisch to discuss some things they love: Deep house, disco and afrobeat records; being a part of NYC dance music history; DJing together; and one another, of course (the pair are engaged). Raffaele and Bertisch pick some of their favorite music to listen to, and the show is rounded out by more love-themed cuts to get you in the mood — plus a tribute to both David Mancuso and ’80s producer extraordinaire Mark Kamins.
