Michelle Zauner expands indie-pop as Japanese Breakfast, plus Gabe Florenz and Liturgy drummer Greg Fox on Brooklyn’s supersonic art space.

Michelle Zauner of the understated shoegaze bedroom-pop project Japanese Breakfast stops in to discuss her sophomore record Soft Sounds from Another Planet, writing songs about robots and fellatio and why you shouldn’t bring too much on tour. Director Gabriel Florenz and music programmer Greg Fox (drummer for Liturgy, Ex Eye and more) discuss the goings on at Pioneer Works, a groundbreaking art and performance space in Red Hook, Brooklyn. The pair discuss the space’s latest installation (a psychedelic, apocalyptic trailer park called Grand Ole Opry) and how they approach curating the space’s music, which has included sets from Sleep, Wolf Eyes and Lightning Bolt, among others.
