The Atlanta rapper on her debut album Baylor Swift, distorting the pop sound and upsetting the norms.

Following yesterday’s conversation with upstart rapper Chynna, fellow gamechanger Bali Baby, an outspoken voice of the new generation of female artists, joins Vivian today. First emerging in 2016 with her viral hit “Dip Dip Freestyle,” the 20-year-old Atlanta native has amassed a loyal online following with her ability to cultivate a new persona at every turn: There’s the R&B-tinged “Bubbles Bali,” her rap moment on “Brazy Bali,” and a feature on Trippie Redd’s “Woah Woah Woah.” On her debut album Baylor Swift, she introduces a new personality, a character that is equal parts horror and sweet pop star. Following in no one’s footsteps, Bali is an envelope-pusher, carving out her own place among the onslaught of new talent.
