Live from RBMA Berlin! The percussionist of Abwärts and Neubauten, plus Mona Mur and KMFDM’s En Esch on their career collaborations.
Sometime collaborators FM Einheit, Mona Mur and En Esch join us live in Berlin to talk about over 25 years of radical noise-making. Einheit is a drummer, percussionist and “chief machinery operator” who has played drills, metal scraps, car engines and all manner of custom-made instruments in innovative bands since the 1970s (including industrial pioneers Einstürzende Neubaten, Neue Deutsche Welle group Palais Schaumberg and punk band Abwärts) as well as working as a theater composer and producer of radio dramas (such as the recent You Speak to the Stasi: Original Recordings from the State Security Archive). Mona Mur is a vocalist, performer, composer and sound designer, whose work encompasses collaborations with FM (and other Neubauten members), Miron Zownir and Die Mieter; she has released numerous albums over the last 25 years, both solo and with her band Mona Mur & The Tenants, along with creating sound for film and computer games. En Esch has collaborated with Mona on records like 120 Tage but he’s probably best known for his longtime involvement in “heavy beat” industrial favorites KMFDM from 1985 to 1999; since leaving the Wax Trax! stalwarts he’s been a member of Pigface and Slick Idiot as well as releasing solo records.
