DJ Taye welcomes Chicago’s filthy bass maestro Heavee to preview his debut LP and drop an exclusive-packed guest mix.
Heavee has been burning the candle at both ends for years now. Working as both a nighttime security guard and prolific producer, the Chicago DJ and footwork dancer spends every waking hour (including, sometimes, his working hours) with Ableton open, steadily advancing his craft. This year, Heavee’s dedication culminates in his debut full-length, entitled WFM — it features all original music and guest appearances from the Teklife core members and… no samples. On this episode of the Chicago footwork crew’s monthly show, Heavee tells host DJ Taye about his career and the album process, from the unforgettable advice from DJ Spinn to how he uses household objects to make certain sounds. Plus, stay tuned for a breakneck mix of 160 BPM heaters, and a track premiere from DJ Earl and San Antonio’s MoonDoctoR.
