CHI newcomer Jalen and freewheeling bass pro Violet Systems deliver a face-melting B2B set with juke whiz Regent Street, hosted by Mel G, with a special appearance from Sinistarr.
Alla di junglists! Formerly known as Kid Entropy, producer, DJ and MC Violet Systems’ output spans an impressive number of scenes and genres: from Chicago’s churning noise and punk underground to the skittering footwork he’s released alongside Traxman as part of his Tekk DJ’z collective. On this episode of Teklife he takes over the controls with upstart dancer and DJ Jalen for a freewheeling back-to-back mix of uptempo rap edits, dusty glitch classics and VIP reworks of well-worn grooves. Before turning over the mic and mixer to NYC’s Jamaican-born Teklife affiliate Regent Street, Detroit’s drum & bass and techno futurist Sinistarr drops into the studio for a short interview and fire mini-mix, closing out with a brand new jam featuring Norway representative Slick Shoota.
Check out this three-part video of a footwork face-off: Terra Squad (or TS) versus Taliban, the first dance crew that Jalen joined.
