Lit City Trax man Durban, Mel G of Tripletrain and Chicago OG Tre join host DJ Earl on Teklife’s monthly showcase of 160 BPM mayhem.
In the lead-up to the release of his debut LP, Open Your Eyes, host DJ Earl welcomes a number of Teklife family members onto this week’s episode. In the first hour he’s joined by Brixton-born, Brooklyn-based producer and Lit City Trax man Durban, who reminisces about getting his first drum kit, the impact of drum & bass in his work and his plans for the future before dropping a percolating mix of 160 BPM bangers old and new. Mel G of previous guests Tripletrain stops by as well, dropping a minimix of unheard heat. And finally, Durban and Earl call up DJ Tre in Chicago to hear about the early days of footwork originators Ghettoteknitianz, the genre’s roots in house music and Teklife’s close relationship to Kode9’s Hyperdub label.
