One Hundred Aspects of the Moon by Tsukioka Yoshitoshi

Veronica Vasicka delves into Japan’s ’80s synth wave underground, and finds music from Sympathy Nervous, Normal Brain and more.

To coincide with the Red Bull Music Festival Tokyo, Veronica Vasicka digs into her extensive Japanese synth music collection once again and revisits the theme of her debut show. We’ll be listening to bands from all over Japan, including Tokyo, Osaka, Kyoto, and Kobe. There’s pop-oriented tunes as well as more underground tracks, and it’s interesting to dig into these Japanese-themed shows because Japan was the home to three important synth manufacturing companies at the time: Roland, Yamaha, and Korg. So for the next two hours, stay tuned for music from Logic System, Sympathy Nervous, Akiko Yano, Morio Agata, Normal Brain, Yellow Magic Orchestra and much more.
