Soothing vibes for troubled times: Australian producer Inkswel weaves a fine blend of soul-drenched beats, disco, and house jams.
Jules Habib hails from Australia, where his younger days were spent obsessing over b-boy culture and drum machines. As Inkswel, however, his focus has shifted toward a particularly funky strain of house and disco, often realized via his penchant for studio collaborations. In recent years, he’s teamed up with the likes of Merwyn Sanders of Virgo Four, Dave Aju, Tom Trago, Recloose, Andras Fox, Steve Spacek and numerous others while logging time in dance music hubs like Amsterdam, London and Berlin. Working with a variety of labels, Inskwel has proven to be something of a nomad as his tunes have surfaced on Rush Hour offshoot Boogie Bash, Faces, Wolf Music, Lumberjacks In Hell, BBE and a number of other imprints, including his own Hot Shot Sounds, launched in 2013. With such a wide-ranging rolodex, it’s no surprise that he also continues to DJ all around the globe, and though his name is currently one that’s revered by the in-crowd, the 2016 release of his debut album Unity 4 Utopia is poised to spotlight his talents for a much wider audience.
