Visionquest’s franco-german trio Rework with a fine blend of bumpin’ house and technosoul, from Basic Channel to Ricardo Villalobos.
The duo of German boys Daniel Varga and Michael Kübler, released their first EP Anyway I Know You back in 2000 on Playhouse Records, and their debut LP Fall Right Now with singer Laetitia that won them plenty of acclaim across European discotheques. But it wasn’t until a few years later, when Sascha Hedgehog, frontgirl of the French beat-punk band Les Quitriche joined, that the group really began to find the unique sound that defines Rework today. Their second album Pleasure Is Pretty combined cold synths and stripped back structures with Sascha’s new wave vocals and a dash of bittersweet dancefloor romance, and they delved deeper into deconstructing the building blocks of pop. Their releases have landed on Parisian label Meant and Items & Things, before finding a home on Visionquest, and they have collaborated with Jennifer Cardini, Seth Troxler and traded remixes with Magda, Trentemøller and many more.
